There are other CMS systems available, including E-104, PostNuke and Drupal among others, but Joomla! is one of the most popular. It is based on (LAMP) which is an acronym for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. This is the configuration for about 3/4 of the database driven websites today.
Joomla! CMS systems is open source and licensed under the GNU/GPL general public license which means it is FREE to download and use. To run Joomla!, you need a web hosting account with a web server that supports LAMP.
